from the comfort of my bed i could go anywhere
by Tomb Svalborg.
‘from the comfort of my bed i could go anywhere‘ is a EP inspired by the worlds I escape to when I don’t have the energy to get out of bed. Each track is very different from the next, yet intended to offer some sort of comfort.
Nora Segerdahl designed the fantastic cover art.
1. from the comfort of my bed i could go anywhere
From the comfort of a bed, you can let your mind wander. Perhaps you’re flying over a misty forest, sailing on a tranquil sea, or stargazing from the top of a mountain. Whatever your destination, this track sets the tone for the entire EP, or at least is meant to hint at what is to come.
2. doomscrolling cottagecore
We go to a secluded cottage nestled deep in the woods, far away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. This is a place where we can escape the rat race and find peace in the simplicity of life. The lo-fi beats and wistful melodies capture the essence of the cottage life, while the distant crackle of the fire and rustle of leaves transport us to a world of tranquility and contentment. And then realize, you are slowly going insane. Oops.
3. blursday bubbles
This track is an offbeat exploration of the idea of wasting time. The bubbly synths was meant to have a lighthearted and carefree vibe, a celebration of laziness and aimlessness, a reminder that sometimes it’s okay to just be as time ticks. But a friend’s child titled it “the farting track”. :<
4. hercules at the bottom of the ocean
This ambient track takes us on a journey deep beneath the waves, where the pressure is crushing and the world is still and silent. The slow, drifting melody captures the sense of wonder and awe that comes with exploring the depths of the ocean. I wanted to make ambient inspired by my passion for watching ROV dives like Nautilus Live and Schmidt Ocean Institute. It is something special about sinking into the darkness, surrounded by strange and wondrous creatures, from the safety of your own home.
5. to express sorrow through apology
Our final story is a contemplative and melancholy meditation on the idea of endings. This track is inspired by Becky Chamber’s writing and tells the story of how a long journey doesn’t have to end with a bang. It’s a poignant way to close out the EP, reminding us that sometimes the most meaningful journeys are the quiet ones.
As we prepare for the journeys that await us beyond the comfort of our beds.
